BUILT ON OPEN SOURCE

Thanks to the makers.

VisualFormat uses these open-source projects. Their licenses and source are available below.

GIF decoder and encoder

VisualFormat uses gifuct-js to decode animation frames and gifenc to encode the cropped result. Both are MIT-licensed and run locally in a Web Worker.

Animation resizing and compression

GIF resizing and compression use the MIT-licensed omggif writer for frame region encoding, along with the local gifuct-js decoder and gifenc palette quantizer.

PNG compression and ZIP archives

Frame extraction uses the MIT-licensed fflate library for local PNG compression and ZIP packaging.

Interface and framework

Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and Lucide icons are used under their respective MIT or ISC licenses. Full dependency versions are recorded in the project lockfile.

Example animation

The geometric example animation, brand graphics and test GIFs were created for VisualFormat. They contain no third-party photos or user files. The example is free to use for trying this tool.
